TVSB’s Media Awards recognize achievements by the creators of the outstanding multimedia content distributed on TVSB’s broadcast and online platforms. Awards will be presented for Best New Show, Lifetime Achievement, Special Event Coverage, Community Impact, and much more. This gala evening at the Alcazar Theatre in Carpinteria will include a retrospective with Ira Opper, the TV pioneer who brought action sports to ESPN and founded community access television in Santa Barbara in 1974.

“We are extremely excited to bring together the extended TV Santa Barbara family for a fun evening to celebrate the impact that community access media has made in the region over the last 45 years”, said Erik Davis, Executive Director of TV Santa Barbara. “Taking place the night before the Academy Awards and hosted at a historic Theatre location, the 2019 Media Awards will be a night to remember as we honor the diverse stories and voices in our wonderful community.”

The Awards Gala, hosted by John Palminteri, will also feature musical performances by Glen Phillips, Jackson Gillies and Kimba Madsen. Mr. Phillips is best known as the singer and songwriter of the alternative rock group Toad the Wet Sprocket. The evening will feature a red carpet VIP reception with hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, and a signature cocktail along with a silent auction and special after party.
