"The Mousetrap" will open on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Alcazar Theatre, presented by the Alcazar Ensemble.

Agatha Christie's play holds the world record for being the longest-running show.

On stage at the historic Alcazar Theatre in Carpinteria, this theatrical masterpiece has captivated audiences in London for over 70 years. Best known for her mystery novels, Christie wrote more than 20 plays. "The Mousetrap" opened in London's West End in 1952 and is the longest-running play in Western theatre history. A classic whodunnit, "The Mousetrap" is set in an old English country home, filled with twists and turns and a surprise ending that audiences are asked not to reveal after leaving the theatre.

In this story, seven strangers are stranded at Monkswell Manor during a dangerous blizzard. However, their situation becomes even more perilous when it is discovered that one of them may be a ruthless murderer on the loose. A police detective arrives to investigate, but things quickly spiral out of control, and one of the guests is found dead. This leads to an intense inquiry into the pasts and lives of each character to uncover the truth.
